Welcome…
JUNE 15TH, 2025
Hi. Hello. Welcome.
If you’re reading this, congratulations — you’ve officially wandered into This Is Cinema, a community-based platform built by filmmakers, for filmmakers, and held together by caffeine, mild delusion, and an unshakable belief that cinema still matters.
We’re Jay and Clay.
We’ve spent years behind cameras, in edit bays, on sets, in studios, and occasionally staring at timelines wondering how our lives led us here. And somewhere along the way, we realized something:
Filmmakers don’t need another guru.
They need each other.
Why This Exists (Besides Our Ego)
The internet is full of:
“Cinematic LUT packs” made by people who’ve never lit a face
AI tools promising to “replace creatives” (hard pass)
Communities that feel like networking events with worse lighting
We wanted something different.
This Is Cinema is a place where:
Filmmakers can actually talk to filmmakers
Knowledge is shared, not gatekept
Tools are built to support the craft, not erase it
And nobody pretends a $30 LED panel is “basically an ARRI”
About AI (Relax, It’s Not Wearing Your Skin)
Let’s address the gimbal-sized elephant in the room.
Yes, we’re building AI-powered tools.
No, they are not here to replace you.
Our philosophy is simple:
AI should do the boring stuff so filmmakers can do the cinematic stuff.
Think:
Faster planning
Smarter prep
Better decision-making
Less Googling at 2am wondering “what’s the right light for this scene?”
AI should be your assistant, not your understudy waiting to steal your role.
A Community, Not a Content Farm
This isn’t a place where you scroll endlessly, feel inadequate, and buy something you didn’t need.
It’s a community-first platform:
Forums
Members
Tools
Resources
Conversations that don’t end with “link in bio”
If you’re a filmmaker who still believes in:
Story over specs
Taste over trends
Craft over shortcuts
You’re in the right place.
The Name Isn’t a Joke (Okay, It Is — But Still)
“This Is Cinema” started as a joke we kept saying… and then we realized we meant it.
It’s about:
Intentional filmmaking
Caring a little too much
Taking your work seriously without taking yourself too seriously
Cinema doesn’t have to be pretentious — but it should be intentional.
What’s Next
We’re building this in public.
There will be:
Features
Experiments
Things that break
Things that unexpectedly slap
And through it all, the goal stays the same:
Support filmmakers. Protect the craft. Make cool stuff.
Welcome to This Is Cinema.
Now grab a seat — previews are over.
